news from malawi

JALI
I am a Christadelphian in Malawi, and have a question about Revelation 13:1-18. I have tried my best to understand this, but get so confused, so I am asking for assistance.
Bro. Robert Mapsera

Comment: I guess many feel the same as our Brother. We have sent Bro. Robert some literature on the matter.

KASUNGU
I wrote for the Bible Companion and Bible Basics and have now received them and my wife also received the book, ‘Why Are We Here?’ We both have appreciated these books. My wife has completed all the lessons in Introducing Bible Basics and will send them soon when I find the money for stamps and envelope. I am also happy to have received letters from a Sister and Brothers which have encouraged me spiritually. Thanks for your card, Paula, very beautiful indeed with touching words quoted from Psalms and Numbers 6:24-26. Thanks also to you, Bro. Anthony Oosthuizen for your advice. Thanks also to Bro. Elijah Rabaji for your encouraging letter telling me that you are in a wheelchair because of an accident you had in 1989. We should still put our trust in prayer. To Bro. Rex Sanders my thanks; your words awoke so much in me. I do not have a Hymn Book; I would be pleased if someone could assist so that my wife Flora and I can sing ourselves. Should anyone have spare tapes of other songs we should be glad to receive them through Bro. Marcus.
Bro. Alexander Banda

LILONGWE
We are fine, though I suffer a lot from heart problems and leg pains. If (1) Ibufen and (2) Indocid is available, please send to me. I am isolated, so please send me names and addresses of brethren and sisters in Malawi so that I can keep in touch with them for my spiritual strength (to be exhorted). I am always happy to receive Gospel News, which exhorts me as I am isolated – ‘Am just like a lost sheep whose shepherd is not showing attention on the lost one.’
Bro. Henry M. Banda

MZUZU
I have received a parcel of books from America and so appreciate it. I wrote to the Sister once and she responded. My two older boys finished school a year ago and are yet unemployed, since neither of them has done any particular course for careers.
Bro. Sylvester Tembo

My thanks to you and Bro. Gondwe who approached me with the spiritual spear which entered into me (Heb. 4:12). For this, please assist me with a Bible which will help me to have more knowledge of God. I am a prisoner as I write this letter to you; I have nothing apart from the word of God. Like king David after his sin, I am crying that all the bad things I have done have been forgiven me.
Bro. Wellington Mkwala

RUMPHI
I was glad to receive the book you sent and Gospel News, together with the 2004 calendar. I pray to the Almighty that the truth and knowledge we now have from His word will stay with us until the return of our Lord Jesus. I am again sending you some names of friends who are eager to learn about the truth and the coming of our Lord Jesus, which can be any time now.
Bro. Brain Gondwe

TENGANI
I have received with joy the book, ‘Why Are We Here?’ I read it regularly as it gives excellent insights into Bible teachings and preaching the word of God. When we talk about Gospel News, this is important because the truth is spreading so quickly throughout many countries and it is good to see the support which we see from Brethren and Sisters world wide. I am requesting you humbly to send me more copies of Bible Basics because here in Nsanje district I am the only brother in Christ. Fellow Brethren and Sisters need to have their own copies. I have been a Sunday School teacher in our ecclesia for three years. Our aim is to encourage young brethren and sisters to grow spiritually. Unfortunately, I have no Sunday School materials, like Key Cards, time charts and lessons. If available, please send me these materials so that my lessons can be better understood. The Bible says, “When Jesus saw this, he became angry and said, Let the children come to me! Don’t try to stop them. People who are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). We pray day and night for the work you are doing. I thank you on behalf of Zambezi ecclesia. We do appreciate the efforts of promoting the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ZOMBA
It is almost a year without visiting some areas because of some problems, so now some members of Mamgombo ecclesia and I are arranging to have a big gathering at Mamgambo church. I am therefore requesting you to send me some 10 or 15 Bible Basics and some literature for distribution. I have also compiled some Chichewa lectures, such as, ‘Why Zacchaeus climbed a sycamore tree when there were a number of trees? (Luke 19:1-4). Thank you for the Bible Basics; I have sent them to Mzimba where I have a number of friends and another five to Chitipa with Bro. Kaonga. My wife and I and the children are all very well, with God’s blessing.
