news from jamaica

KINGSTON
We've had several enquiries about the welfare of our brothers and sisters in Kingston given the recent violence and over 80 deaths so far in the rioting, mostly in the vicinity of the ecclesia hall in Kingston. Brother Davion Sinclair is the Secretary of the ecclesia in Kingston and he informed, during the problems, as follows:

"The situation here in Kingston is very bad, however I must say that all our brethren in Kingston and surrounding areas are OK. but at times we came under heavy gun-battle with the thugs and the force. There was the killing of a security guard in front of our premises. the city is in a total lock down. At the moment the situation is slightly better with lots of controversy. Our meeting will be closed until further notice as it sits on the battle line in Kingston.

We here in Kingston and Jamaica are very terrified of the situation. On Sunday when the operation was about to go forward our meeting hall came under heavy gunfire from each side and our members were eager to get out and go home. It was a bloody and scary moment for all as there were non-stop gun-battles and explosions. Please continue to pray for us as we encounter on a daily basis news of bodies still lying on streets and in homes decomposing”.

Gospel News is so very encouraging, especially to read the testimonies of faith in our brothers and sisters in far away lands, places which I have never known or heard of before. I ask the Lord to continue to strengthen you spiritually and physically as you continue to present the gospel story to thirsty souls in their needful hour.

I am in isolation, so am unable to report fraternal activities, but I enjoyed solving the crossword – I was able to solve all the clues except ‘Nimrod,’ I had to go to Gen.10:8-9 for that clue – it was a good brain-tester.

I continue to enjoy fairly good health in spite of old age problems which must be endured, and I am looking forward to my 97th birthday on July 28th, if it is God’s will. Continue to remember me in your prayers and keep up the good work.

COMMENT: Sis Daisy, you are one of our oldest active readers. You certainly have an excellent memory to have answered all those questions; I guess it must be due to years of attentive Bible reading. You are an excellent example to us all. MH.
