The Wages of Sin

Every work day, we report for work so as to earn money. Principally we have to work before we earn. Absence from work meets with either a deduction in leave days or indeed a reduction in wages. The amount of wages is about comparable with any other firm offering a similar job.. Whether a salary is commensurate with work demanded is another matter, but the cardinal point is that a salary is earned and is never paid for nothing. So it is with the wages of SIN as spelt out in Romans 6:23,”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus”. We earn death for commiting sin and sometimes hang on to it without repenting of it. God is a just God and His Law demands justice. But, friends, the death of Jesus has opened up a way wherby we can have salvation as a free gift, or put another way, unmerited grace. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift (2 Cor 9:15.

Friends, would you kiss a knife that had slashed the head off your loved one? Would you make such an object a subject of adoration? I hear a No answer but, tell you what, - that’s precisely what we do by commiting sin and cherishing it. It nailed your Saviour to the cross. He settled the most significant transaction of time and eternity for you.   Think on these words.
