God calls His servants for a purpose. To mention a few of those heroes of Faith listed in Hebrews chapter 11: Abraham, Moses, Noah. When they were called, they did not know what was in store for them, they only knew that He had a purpose with them. Today there are still only a few who are called for God’s purpose who, God willing, will be among those heroes in the kingdom of God.

Born into a family of 12 children, I was the last born in my mother’s house. My father was a polygamist. He had two wives neither of whom were Christians and believed in the traditional cultural traditions.

I started to love Christianity when I was sent to a mission school, as school children we were forced to attend Sunday services. From there I started to correspond with many Bible schools and missions. I enjoyed receiving certificates, but none of them stole my heart. Some of them showed that I had reached the point of having learned enough, they said, to be eligible for baptism, but I just made excuses.

One day I met someone on a bus, who I can’t remember to this day, but I am convinced that he was a Christadelphian. We discussed the topic of hell. At that time I believed in hell fire, and heaven-going after death and so on, since these are what I had learned. On reaching my destination the man gave me the overseas CBM address. As it was my hobby I applied and started the 40-lesson course with my first tutor, Brother Dereck Borrowclough. That is when the basic Bible truth started to touch my heart. What I learned was very different from what I had learned from the other Bible schools. Deep in my heart, I said this is the truth which I was seeking for. It penetrated my heart and immediately changed my way of life. I gave myself to Jesus, and on completion of the course I surrendered myself into God’s hands.

It was a great day in heaven as the angels rejoiced with us in Harare (Luke 15:7) on the 8th day of the 8th month in 2004 when I was born again in water. The baptism was witnessed by the overseas missionaries who had visited us during the course of the year.

I now believe that it was God’s purpose, that he guided me to preach the gospel truth and to search for His called ones for His name.

Today there are twelve active baptised brothers and eleven active baptised sisters plus a Sunday School of fourteen children in Guruve ecclesia.

May the Lord guide us all in the journey to the Kingdom, so that not one of us is lost.

Bro Fanuel Mazodzcka (Guruve, Zimbabwe)
