I am sorry to tell you that brother Onaldo remains in a coma. Please pray for us all here.

Our prayer and concern is for brother Onaldo. He was for us as a great spiritual father.

SANTIAGO

I am translating parts of the Gospel News messages from English to Spanish in order to share with other isolated Spanish-speaking Sisters. I hope this will be useful for all the women, who like me, are in isolation without real help or books that can be used as inspiration. I am planning to translate one message per month. Thanks for all your love, concern and support.

What's Happening in Guyana

The brethren and sisters in Guyana have decided to produce an interesting newsletter about what is happening there and I am sure it will be not only stimulating and unifying, but encourage even more interest in the Truth in Guyana, it could be an example followed in other areas with considerable benefits.

Planned Activities

Preaching Committee The three Demerara Ecclesias got together and formed a preaching committee with the intention of elevating the level of preaching activity in Guyana. We met regularly at the Eccles Hall. At the end we were blessed with the presence of Sis Worrell (visiting from Canada) who made very significant contributions to the deliberations. We considered a number of activities, including the following media: Open Air meetings, radio talks, newspaper advertisements, correspondence courses, first principle classes, special lectures, and even face-fook. Each area was assigned to a particular Brother/Sister who would be responsible for initiating/supervising the activity.

Newsletter Plans were also discussed for the commencement of a newsletter - the first of such an effort in recent times - with effect from April, the purposes of which are: a) Keeping local as well as overseas brethren abreast of various important plans and activities being undertaken; b) Serving as a device for developing our literary skills in publishing important events; c) Keeping our interest alive in the affairs of sister ecclesias; d) Enhancing the communication channel between ecclesias; e) Including a news-sheet by each Youth Circle, summarizing points of interest to them.

ST. MARY

The day of the Lord is my strength. Give thanks unto His Name for He is worthy to be praised. I am strong in my faith and no one can take that from me. `Gospel News' helps me and encourages me a lot. I was very excited when I saw how many ecclesias from different countries there are and how many are being immersed into the saving Name of Jesus Christ. Sadly, the ecclesia I belong to has been torn apart and some have gone astray. I am the only young girl that is a member. I wish we could get someone to come and hold an open air meeting in the community. I hope and pray for Jesus to return to his earthly throne.

I have been keeping OK: at present my days are occupied mostly with a drug rehab course.

I am one of four lifers chosen to be taught how to help guys with addiction problems. The four of us are going through the program together with thirty inmates who have addiction problems. It's a three-month course, Monday to Friday, mornings and afternoons, and it began in September.

I am also teaching and managing the school's store-room, so my days are pretty busy. That brings to mind your comment that they will find me so useful, they'll want to keep me inside!

Four students from my last English class sat the national exam, three passed; one got a distinction, one got grade 2 and one grade 3. My present English class began with twenty-two in August, but it's now down to 12 students.
