The Bible Verses Which Most Enthuse Me
I think we all agree that humankind inherited sin through Adam and Eve, the first human pair who rebeled against God. Their punishment brought us death, which we experience today. Had they not sinned, we would be experiencing eternal bliss. But we can still experience the good life, only after losing the physical life we possess today. The following are verses I use to direct my life. What about you, my fellow brother and sister?
Rom 3:23-24: All have sinned (you and me): “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
Rom 5:8: Christ died for us all: “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 Cor 10:31: Everything we do should glorify God: “So whether you eat or drink in this life, do it all for the glory of God.”
Deut 30:15-19: God-given free-will: “See, I set before you today, life and death, prosperity and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws, then you will live and increase.
Heb 11:1: We all need faith to acknowledge God: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see.”
Heb 12:7-8: Suffering is spiritual training. “Endure hardship as discipline, God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father; (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.”
Rom 8:28,35,37: More than conquerors: “And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, and have been called according to his purpose … Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? … No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
2 Tim 3:15-16: Doing what is right: “Do what is right; be valiant for the truth; teach it without compromise and all lovers of the truth will approve you.”
Matt 6:25-33: Do not worry: “Therefore do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food or the body more important than clothes … So do not worry, saying, what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
In the day of account, all who faithfully have stayed by God’s statutes, precepts and commandments shall partake alike in the rewards and joys of the kingdom. With the eye of faith, we can see God watching with approval as we break surface and telling us ‘through the sacrifice of Jesus, I now forgive all your sins.’ And if you keep your promises, I will surely raise you from the dead when he comes again, whose right the Kingdom is – our Master and Saviour – Jesus who is the Christ.
