Nothing But Life Lasts Forever
We see the flowers blossom and bloom but, alas, they do not stay long. Summer comes and we are greeted with lush greens: trees, flowers, grass and all the crops of the field. Yet in a little while it is all over. Then comes winter. Trees shed their leaves and lose their beauty. To the undiscerning mind, this seems normal routine. When we come to think deeply, we might be tempted to look at life with negative feelings, telling ourselves that there is no need to toil. But the reality of the matter is that we all want to live on and on, hence we plan ahead.
At this juncture, we need to re-focus. Where are we coming from and where are we going? We need not waste life’s precious moments, but serve God while we can. We need to seek Him while He is still to be found, for this is the passport to the only thing that lasts for ever: - Everlasting life in God’s new Kingdom to come.
Let us look at the captions of the book of Ecclesiastes:
Chapter 1: “Every thing is meaningless”: “Wisdom is meaningless”.
Chapter 2: “Pleasures are meaningless”: “Toil is meaningless”.
Chapter 3: “There is a time for everything”.
Verse 11 says “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
Many have innate ambitions, for greater aspirations, a feeling to plan ahead and live on. Yet we ignore God and kiss eternal life goodbye. So here is what we should do to inherit eternal life:
• Take the life you have and give it your best shot
• Think positively, be jolly and let God rule over your life
• Take the challenges that life has laid at your feet, take heart and be thankful to God for everything
• Give your all to Good and know that life can last for ever.
