Taking Refuge in the Lord

What is a refugee? It is a person running away from war. Why running away from war? They need security. All of us have taken refuge in the Lord, having run away from evil.

Brothers and sisters, read Psalm 71:1-4. This is our individual cry every day, “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness and cause me to escape. Incline thine ear unto me and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort. Thou hast given a commandment to save me, for thou art my rock and fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man”.

How many of us are like the Israelites of Exodus 16:3? After having been baptised into the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord God fed the Israelites with manna for 40 years in the desert until they came to Canaan (Exodus 16:31-35). What did manna symbolise? The word of God – see John 6:31-35. Equally we shall eat the word of God until Jesus returns or we fall asleep.

Brothers and sisters, let us be like Ruth (a refugee). Ruth is one of our examples who took refuge in the Lord, when she left Moab for Bethlehem. Read Ruth 2:8-12. She became the wife of Boaz and her son Obed bore Jesse, the father of David. MAY THE LORD GOD THROUGH JESUS BE WITH YOU ALL.
