RAROTONGA
I will tell you about idol carving (Tiki = statue, Tangaron = god). When the first missionaries arrived in Rarotonga in 1823 Rev John William of England and Papehia of Tahiti from the LMS (London Missionary Society), the Island’s Chief and the people burned their idol god (Tiki Tangaron). The carvers brought this tiki back again to make money, and a lot of them, big and small, are in the craft shops today. It is an icon to them, even though no one worships idols today.

I am very much thanking you for the two 2006 Bible Reader’s calendars. I must also thank you for sending me GOSPEL NEWS over the previous years, I received them all; please continue sending them so I do not miss out, also other literature. These help me so much to keep the truth of the word of God. Also I know that I have Brethren and Sisters other than in my own country.
