Pay More Careful Attention
By faith some faced jeers and flogging while others were chained and put in prison. They were persecuted. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute and ill-treated – the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground, in the dens and caves of the earth (Hebrews 11:35).
Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head, many are my enemies without cause (Psalms 69:1-21).
What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from the body of death? Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ (Romans 7:24,25:8:1), belonging to Christ and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29).
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst, the worst of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15,16).
Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive (1 Cor 15:3,4, 23).
In all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestinated to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, called, justified and glorified (Romans 8:28,29-30).
We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away (Hebrews 2:1).
It is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous (Romans 2:13).
To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy – to the only God and Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forever more. Amen (Jude 24,25).
