view as web pdf The Value of Bible Study

The Bible contains proof of its divine origin. No other book can answer the questions of the mind or satisfy the longings of mankind as does the Bible. It is adapted to every age and condition of life, and it is full of that knowledge which enlightens the mind and sanctifies the soul. In the Bible we have the revelation of the living God. It has power to transform life. During all its history a divine hand has been over its creation and preserved it for the world.

The world that we live in has been given the word of God, the perfect gospel message for all mankind, that looks forward to the ending of the reign of sin when the Lord Jesus will return in glory. In the meantime, the gospel of the kingdom is being preached in all the world for a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come (Matthew 24:14).

As a guide, the Bible is without a rival. It gives a calm peace to those who believe, and a firm hope for the future. It solves the great problems of life and destiny, and inspires men and women to a life of purity, patience and welldoing. It fills the heart with love for God and a desire to do good to others. So prepared, we can lead a life of usefulness. Through the Bible, we can learn the value of a soul, by revealing the price that has been paid to redeem it. God’s word makes known the only antidote for sin, and presents the only perfect code of morals that has ever been given. It tells of the future as well as the preparation necessary to experience it. It makes us bold for what is right, and sustains the soul in adversity and affliction.

For what is all scripture profitable? “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2Timothy 3:16). Jesus said, “Yea, rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it” (Luke 11:28).

What kind of worship results from false teaching? “But in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9).

By what doctrines are some to be misled in the last days? “Now the spirit speaketh expressly that, in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils” (1Timothy 4:1 and see 2Peter 2:1).

Lastly, I am very proud of those who know the secrets of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in the kingdom of God on earth.
