In Times of Ignorance

Because it is the time of resolution, we should examine the word of God so that we can understand the Bible.  We ought to make a choice when we have examined the Bible and the type of voices we hear in our lives.  Psalm 119:130 says “The unfolding of your word gives light, it gives understanding to the simple”.  Reading the Bible and praying are the starting point of a walk toward the Kingdom.  Paul to the Romans, 15:4, stresses “Everything that was written in the past, was written to teach us , so that through patience and the encouragement of the scriptures, we might have hope”.

We all hope for salvation and eternal life, and we should understand the conditions carefully so that we may not miss that life.  They are set out clearly in the Bible and we should set aside a few minutes every day to search them out.

Psalm 119:105 says “your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path,” so if we want to walk towards the kingdom, finding the best way to take is to read the Bible.  John 17:17 says, “Your word is truth”; God’s word are true, communicated by His Holy Spirit and recorded in the Bible.  Belief in God’s word of truth is the rock upon which faith is built.  Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, revealed that: “Holy men spoke from God as they were carried along by the holy spirit” (2 Peter 1:21).  The Bible was written through the divine inspiration of chosen people.  The Jews living a long time ago wrote the scriptures in different centuries and times, but the spirit of God moved in them all.  The Old and New Testaments stand together, equally important and equally true.

The letter to the Hebrews (1:1, 2) says that in the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets, but in these last days (which includes the days we are living in now), God has spoken to us by His Son Jesus.  The law, the history and the prophets all point forward to Christ who fulfilled the law by nailing it to the cross.  “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for refroof, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Tim 3:16) but Paul also says: “We must pay careful attention to what we have heard so that we do not drift away” (Hebrews 2:1-4).  In our time of ignorance, God overlooked our deeds but now commands us to repent.  I have indeed repented and I will never return to the times of ignorance.  I believe in Jesus whom God has raised from the dead and whom he has appointed to judge the world one day.  So I tell my children and grandchildren that when I go to my deep sleep and my body is laid in the grave, let no clan’s traditions be attached to my body.  I repeat: when my days are over, my body will be cared for by Christadelphians and no other sect.  If apart from Christadelphians, cursed be those that bury my body traditionally.

May Jesus our Saviour return soon so that he may establish God’s Kingdom on earth.  Grace and peace be with you all from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen
