Bro. and Sis. Mathews with a Canadian Sister at the home of Bro. Clifford
Thanks to God I am still breathing. But physically I am suffering but I am hopeful that nothing can separate me from the love manifested in Jesus Christ; as Paul mentioned it in Romans chapter 8:38 “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Your reward is great before God for coming to Haiti to establish this ministry of the Truth, if you had not made the first step, up to now we would be still dwelling in the darkness of the false religions.

KINGSTON
We've had several enquiries about the welfare of our brothers and sisters in Kingston given the recent violence and over 80 deaths so far in the rioting, mostly in the vicinity of the ecclesia hall in Kingston. Brother Davion Sinclair is the Secretary of the ecclesia in Kingston and he informed, during the problems, as follows:
"The situation here in Kingston is very bad, however I must say that all our brethren in Kingston and surrounding areas are OK. but at times we came under heavy gun-battle with the thugs and the force. There was the killing of a security guard in front of our premises. the city is in a total lock down. At the moment the situation is slightly better with lots of controversy. Our meeting will be closed until further notice as it sits on the battle line in Kingston.
We here in Kingston and Jamaica are very terrified of the situation. On Sunday when the operation was about to go forward our meeting hall came under heavy gunfire from each side and our members were eager to get out and go home. It was a bloody and scary moment for all as there were non-stop gun-battles and explosions. Please continue to pray for us as we encounter on a daily basis news of bodies still lying on streets and in homes decomposing”.

Gospel News is so very encouraging, especially to read the testimonies of faith in our brothers and sisters in far away lands, places which I have never known or heard of before. I ask the Lord to continue to strengthen you spiritually and physically as you continue to present the gospel story to thirsty souls in their needful hour.
I am in isolation, so am unable to report fraternal activities, but I enjoyed solving the crossword – I was able to solve all the clues except ‘Nimrod,’ I had to go to Gen.10:8-9 for that clue – it was a good brain-tester.
I continue to enjoy fairly good health in spite of old age problems which must be endured, and I am looking forward to my 97th birthday on July 28th, if it is God’s will. Continue to remember me in your prayers and keep up the good work.

COMMENT: Sis Daisy, you are one of our oldest active readers. You certainly have an excellent memory to have answered all those questions; I guess it must be due to years of attentive Bible reading. You are an excellent example to us all. MH.
You know how it is with letter-writing for me now, so I am only now able to write to you, but of course you are all in my prayers every day.
I have been keeping okay, thanks to God. I was disappointed that we lost our court case, but that has not really affected me: we have two appeals – to our local Appeal Court and to the Privy Council in London, our country’s highest Court of Appeal. I am just trusting in God to give us success in one of these appeals, so that I will be given a fixed length of sentence, and can look forward to being outside to fellowship with my brethren and sisters in the Truth. If we are not successful before the local court of appeal, I feel confident that the Privy Council will not tolerate the authorities keeping us in prison much longer. But if we have to reach that far, the process could possibly take about two years. In the meantime, I will just continue to work on trying to make myself a better Christian, as we look forward to our Master’s return.
Teaching English has kept me pretty busy, but I am enjoying it. Last week Bernadette’s husband, Bro. Sam, came to see me, together with Bro. Gary Smith from Canada. Bernadette came last month.
You are right in saying that if I hadn’t been through this experience, I would not have found the Truth; I realized that years ago.
Because of few computers the lessons are going at a slow pace, but they expect to receive some new computers soon, which should help the situation. We have no Internet connections, though.
Good to hear that Duncan continues his great work for our Lord: we pray for God’s blessing on his efforts.
