attended by members and friends.
The unaccompanied singing was
wonderful and the meeting vibrant.
We were blessed afterwards to inter-
view two ladies that had been
attending for over a year and heard
excellent confessions of faith. When
asked when they would like to be
baptised, we were pleasantly
surprised to be told “how about
tomorrow morning”! Plans were put
into place to arrange baptisms in the
Bashee river, about 10k’s away. Next
day we had a braai which we had
planned for approx 20; over 35 were
eventually fed. A long journey to take the
cook Sister Nozuko Bula home was then
undertaken in the dark. A memorable experi-
ence not to be repeated!
A lengthy evening discussion followed at
Templeton’s house with the only three
brothers in the meeting, Eddie, Bungeni,
and Templeton. The ecclesia now has
approx 20 sisters.
Despite an influx of a million mosquitoes,
a good night’s sleep ensued. The early
morning call of the cock and chickens
around 6 a.m. started a new and exciting
day! After morning chats and a small
breakfast, we arranged to have as many as
possible of the ecclesia join us for the
baptisms at the Bashee river. A taxi was
hired and paid for in advance to collect
approx 14 other members at 9-00 a.m. It
eventually arrived at 9-45 A.T. (African
Time!) and we then left for a short 20 minute
drive to the river. After hymns and readings,
the baptisms took place in a quiet part of the
river and we all welcomed with much joy our
two new sisters, Nolugisile Gidi and
Nomalungisa Tetyana. Arriving back at
Candu and after a good time of fellow-
ship we all enjoyed a breaking of bread
service, where our two new sisters were
given the right hand of fellowship.
Eventually we were able to take our
leave and start the very long trip back,
although the roads are now greatly
improved. We were not impressed to
read that the N2 in that area is rated as
one of the most dangerous in the world
but by God’s grace we arrived back
home safe and thoroughly uplifted.
