Jesus, during the thousand years of his reign, will fulfil the wonderful purposes of God for this fair earth when everyone will be happy.
To use the words of scripture, "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb." (Rev.19 v.6-9)
THE BIBLE CONTAINS...
Bro. Henderson M. Sosola,
(Mtenthela Ecclesia, Malawi.)
The mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true and its decisions are unchangeable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practise its teachings to be holy.
It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveller's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword and the Christian's charter. The Kingdom will be restored on earth, Christ will be its grand Ruler, good its design, and the glory of God its end.
The Bible should fill the memory and rule the heart: read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened in the Judgement, and will be remembered for ever.
It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labour, and condemns all who trifle with its holy contents. For courage for your task: Joshua 1:8.
The Way Ye Know
Bro Francis Kotei Odiko (Subri, Ghana)
In the gospel according to the apostle John, we read of the Lord Jesus' careful preparation of his disciples to take on the work of preaching the gospel after his departure. From his words we too can be guided as we endeavour to witness to this same gospel.
At the time of Passover, shortly before his death, Jesus spoke at length to the disciples of events which would come to pass in the next few days: "Now before the feast of Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them to the end" (John 13:1).
Supper being ended, the Lord Jesus rose from the table to leave them with a practical example of his love: "He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel which he girded" (John 13:4-5). By doing this, he taught them an essential truth upon which their ministry was to be based – humility of mind and spirit to keep them in remembrance that this was not their work, but the doing of God's will. "So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garment, and was sat down again, he said unto them, `Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me master and Lord, and ye say well for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily,
