Today
| Bro John Owalo Onani (Kaksingri, Kenya)
T
oday is the day of our salvation. Today is
a special day to give praise and thanks-
giving to the God of Israel. Today we pray for
our daily bread. Today we do our daily ‘Bible
Companion’ readings: “This is the day that
Yahweh has made, we will rejoice and be
glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). “Jesus Christ is
the same yesterday, today and forever”
(Hebrews 3:7). “Today if you shall hear his
voice harden not your hearts, as in the
rebellion like the time of testing in the
wilderness”. Let us learn from the children of
Israel (Hebrews 3:12-13). “For whatever
things were written previously were written
for our education that through the patience
and comfort of scripture we might have
hope” (Romans 15:4). “In hope of eternal life
which God who cannot lie promised before
time eternal” (Titus 1:2, and see Numbers
23:19).
Bro Marcus and fellow readers, today I am
filled with a great joy to talk to you while
somewhere else in the world, and I am in
Kenya. We are together in God’s spirit. We
are saved through hope, belief, baptism into
Christ and obedience of faith until death. We
hope to join together in God’s kingdom on
earth and to be given eternal life by Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, our Lord and Saviour
(Romans 2:7; Revelation 22:12; 1 Peter 5:4).
God’s Word is full of examples of men and
women who devoted their lives to serving
Him. Hebrews chapter 11 speaks about the
heroes of faith that have not received their
reward yet; because of you and others they
have to wait. We have to accept the love of
God, the grace of God, the mercy of God to
us. Let us make use of today to praise and
give thanks to the God of Israel (Hebrews
11:39-40).
they are right and hate being corrected.
They have no desire to change, improve
spiritually or learn from mistakes. They
refuse to turn from evil and enjoy doing
wrong. They do not care if their sin causes
trouble, they are even attracted to it. They
have bad relationships with their parents,
and have no focus or direction. They spend
money as fast as they get it and are caught
by their own actions, ruin themselves - and
then blame God!
W
e are always being reminded by the
word of God to consider our ways and
fellowship and never to sit in the seat of
scoffers. Our faith is to meditate on the law
of God day and night and not change
because of tests or temptations. If our faith
is deep, we see visions of victory and find
encouragement in all our trials. Then will
come the fruits of victory.
The wicked are not so. They always think
