Many Are Usually Wrong

War and unrest, violence and murder, hunger and distress, inundation and earthquakes are nothing new. All the same, today’s generation is exposed to new and difficult challenges, such as environmental problems, climate change, genetic engineering and food-related epidemics and are what many of us see as signs that society is distancing itself from certain basic values.

Politicians need the support of the majority of people. Religious leaders also need the support of the majority of people. But the Bible shows that the majority is usually wrong:

• In the time of Noah, everyone except Noah and his family were rejected by God because of their sins (Gen 6:5-7,11-13)

• God chose Abram, later called Abraham, as one of His special servants (Gens 11:31). Because of his faith and obedience, God made promises to him.

• Israel are God’s chosen people and were formed as His kingdom of priests (Deut 7:6-9).

• Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate,...for the gate is narrow and the way hard and few find it” (Matt 7:13,14). This teaches that the majority is wrong

• On that day many will say to the Lord that they were prophets in the name of the Lord and cast out demons; then Jesus will declare “I never knew you” (Matt 7:22,23).

• Then after this, many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him (John 6:66-68).
