Noah’s Ark - a Lesson for Today
| Bro Simion Mudhimba (Chipinge, Zimbabwe)
“A
nd, behold I, even I, do bring a flood of
waters upon the earth, to destroy all
flesh, wherein is the breath of life from under
heaven, and everything that is in the earth
shall die” (Genesis 6:17). The Bible records
that in the days of Noah, God instructed Noah
to build an ark because He was about to
destroy the earth and everything that had the
breath of life in it with a great flood.
The Bible says, “By the faith of Noah,
being warned of God of things not seen as
yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to
the saving of his house” (Hebrews 11:7).
Noah hastened to build the ark and after-
wards the heavens opened and heavy rains
flooded the earth. All the people and
animals on earth drowned and whole cities
were submerged in the deluge. Yet the
same flood that destroyed the world bore
Noah’s ark up; the very flood of judgement
that came to destroy the ungodly bore up
the righteous. You have to realise that the
evil, hardship and economic conditions in
the world, or that may be in your country, are
not set against you - for you can never be
disadvantaged. The flood or economic and
political disaster is not your disadvantage.
In the midst of recession and economic down-
turn, God has ordained your spiritual pros-
perity. He has already planned that you will be
a success in this life irrespective of what may
go on around you. Just as the ark was a haven
for Noah and his family, the Lord Jesus is your
refuge and strong tower. “The name of the
Lord is a strong tower: the righteous run into
it and is safe” (Proverbs 18:10). No wonder the
Bible says, “Whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans
10:13). Remember that each one of those in
Noah’s ark was sustained for a hundred and
fifty days, but when you come into Christ by
making Jesus Lord your life he will preserve
and sustain you for eternity.
Therefore, refuse to fret or fear, for the Lord
will bear you up, above every negative situa-
tion. So, may Jesus soon come to establish the
kingdom and fill the earth with the knowledge
and glory of the Lord as the waters cover the
sea.
Peace
| Bro Green Mumbelunga (Ndola, Zambia)
W
orld-shaking events are happening every
day. Various religions are praying for
peace on earth, but there is no peace.
Mankind needs peace to stay carefree and
without worry. Human beings are suffering
from wars, AIDS and other disease, and hunger.
It is not that God has no interest in peace. He
has a long-term plan for peace which is in the
Bible. God promised Abraham, “And through
your offspring, all nations on earth will be
blessed because you have obeyed me”
(Genesis 22:18). God has made the decision
already - peace shall prevail here on earth -
no fears, no death and no bloodshed. Sin will
be abolished. This is the time when Jesus will
be ruling here on earth. Isaiah prophesied that
Jesus would be called the prince of peace: “Of
the increase of his government and peace
there will be no end” (Isaiah 9:6).
