Lessons from John 11

John 11 is so interesting and encouraging to us. When Lazarus fell sick, his sisters were so depressed, and helpless. They sent a message to Jesus, but he came later when Lazarus was already dead. Verse 24 tells us that his sisters were not expecting to see their brother, Lazarus, until resurrection day. This shows that they had lost hope and felt helpless about the situation. They could not imagine that Jesus would raise him from the dead.

The encouragement in this chapter lies in our daily lives. We might face all sorts of troubles or difficulties; what we need to ask for is help from God. There is nothing impossible for Him. Your problem may cause you to be despairing, lonely or humiliated but should not cause you to give up. Take your difficulty to God. He will answer and comfort you. Remember that your problems can be used to reveal God’s power (John 9:3; 11:4,40).

You must be devoted to the work of God and He will reward you positively. If you render your heart and mind to the Lord, His glory will take charge. My friend, now is the time to respond to the call of the Lord (Acts 17:30,31). He is the master of every thing, the healer of diseases, the comforter of mourners and friend of the isolated. In Him all things are solved (Jeremiah 32:27).
