News from the Americas

news from bahamas

I am part of a home Bible study group and the participants want to be involved in a more structured format of Bible study. So I am going to introduce them to Bible Basics Introductory Studies. I have two copies left of the set of Bible Basics that I received for the prison ministry. Is it possible for you to send me eight more copies? Doors are beginning to open up for ministry and I am definitely going to walk through them.

AROUCA
There have been further delays in considering Brother George Constantine’s case for release, and the hearing has been postponed until October. Following the series of postponements one wonders if yet again it will be further defered. However, things have radically changed for him: He has been transferred to the country’s most modern prisons at Arouca, with electric gates and 9X9 cells for three which have a bathroom, toilet and sink in each cell. His cell mates are good. There are four large yards for life prisoners and they can play cricket, use a gym and have many opportunities for learning various skills. He is allowed to go to a large mess hall for meals. The great thing is that he is OK and is coping and patiently waiting for his case to come up and says he is making the most of every minute to learn as much as he can. His memory is not as good as it was, doubtless partly the result of being locked up in solitary confinement for years and so has to keep writing things down, he certainly needs our prayers for help and to thank the Lord for His kindness towards him. MH.

POINT FORTIN

Thank you for Gospel News and the books sent to me over the years and may God continue to bless CAT in the wonderful work of spreading the Gospel. Could you please let me have a copy of Christadelphian Standards.

news from usa

We are delighted to announce the baptism of JOSH, a contact from our websites; may God be with him until His Kingdom comes.

Here’s a message from those who are involved with following up Bible Basics requests from prisoners in the USA:

"We get a number of prisoners request Bible Basics and we are grateful to those who follow up on this. We'd like to share with you the case of William in MS. He got Bible Basics read it and particularly studied the chapter on 'baptism' and desired baptism, but as he's in a high security prison it's hard to visit and baptize inmates. He asked the chaplain to baptize him by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ, which he did. William was attending a Bible study group when he received Bible Basics and he shared what he read in Bible Basics with the study group in the prison. There were five other men baptized along with William at the same time by the chaplain. However, we have not been able to visit these folk, nor were we able to discuss things with them before baptism. William just wrote to us and told us what he'd done! It would be great if someone could go visit these folks. They are in Mississippi, and if anyone is willing to make the journey or happens to be there and would like to assist, do let us know".
