The Grace of God to the World

When Yahweh revealed His glory to Moses, He did so not with a mighty act of power, but with a revelation of the quality of His goodness, in His compassion, grace, mercy and truth. If it had not been for the goodness of the Father towards us, in His loving grace, we would have remained in the world of darkness to vanish in endless death. “And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished: he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the father to the third and fourth generation” (Exodus 34:6-7).

How crystal clear about the quoted verses, brothers and sisters, you may wonder about the immeasurable grace for you and me. But we should realize that God does not want us to disobey Him because He punishes those who do not do His requirements. How passionately, then, should we rejoice because we live under that gracious favour, the divine love of the Father; and how vigorously we should testify the gospel of the grace of God. “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace” (Acts 20:24).

In the world are relatives, friends and a host of others to whom we should reveal, by word and deeds, this wonderful gospel of “the grace of God” and we should never cease in our efforts to win them to the faith and the hope of the life immortal.

Every day of our lives ought to be a day of thanks “ for the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to mankind”. It is instructing us to the intent that “denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and righteously and godly in this present world, looking for that blessed hope and appearing at the glory of our great saviour, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:12,13).

We are living in the last days of Gentile times and an age which gives us a heightened and deepened sense of the inexpressible and irreplaceable value of the truth we hold, and the preciousness of every moment that remains before the coming of Jesus. Freedom from sin is a gift from God, it is not earned or worked for in any way, it is given to us through God’s grace (Ephesians 2:4-9).

Finally, brothers and sisters, we know that at times we shall fail, but if we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just to forgive us; we have no righteousness of our own to offer God but it is His grace that teaches us to turn our backs on this life and to follow the Lord Jesus Christ as his disciples. His grace makes us eager to do what is good and will bring us to His Kingdom.
