Our Remembrance

Do we remember what the Lord has done for us? At the time of the Exodus, people were saved by God through the hand of Moses. Because sin, many God gave His Son as the lamb of sacrifice. Jesus Christ is our redeemer, and he who repents and believes in him will have eternal life (John 3:16). As Christians, how many times do we remember our God? Do we remember where we came from? When are we to remember our Lord? Is it only in times of trouble, or when we are given something of great value unexpectedly?

We must always remember the Lord wherever we are and whatever we are doing. We must also remember that for us to live, it is by the Lord’s grace, His love and power. Without Him, we cannot live, but in him we have hope of eternal life (John 3:36). God remembered His people and his promises are for ever (Psalms 111:5), but as at the time of Moses, they turned against Him and rejected His commands.

Brothers and Sisters, here is something great to remember: the death of Jesus our Redeemer. As we are sinners, let us think deeply when remembering his death during the breaking of bread and taking the wine. Why, then, may we find it difficult to remind ourselves when we have been given the power to remember (John 14:26)? What we need is to be remembered by God but do we remember on our part how many requests we have made of Him, or how long ago?

Some people only remember God in times of trouble, hunger or crisis, but as for us, we should remember the Lord always, and thank Him for everything. As Christians, we should remember each other, and not forget the poor, the orphans and widows.

Lastly, when you are blessed, do not forget to thank the Lord, for the remembrance of Him does not end but passes from generation to generation (Exodus 3:15).
