Meeting the World with Christ

The weekend begins at 6pm on Friday 22nd January and ends on Sunday afternoon 24th January

Provisional programme

Carelinks in the Moslem World; update – Charlie Klennert

The challenge of forgiving Jesus commands us to forgive each other in order to be forgiven by God, (Matt 6:14-15)  But this is a tall order, particularly for those who have suffered severely.  The workshop will analyse the topic and seek small steps that we can take in following our Masters' example – Steve Gretton

The art of Communication Jesus used specific methods to communicate. The Bible uses others. How should we communicate - with fellow believers, interested outsiders, the world at large and non-English speakers. Techniques for managing our messages more successfully will be considered Charles Abel

Our Role in God’s Salvation of Others – Peter Cresswell

Life with a Sense of Mission Productive service of the Lord results from having our goals clear and harnessing our time and opportunities to those aims and objectives. Our lives slowly become characterized by this sense of mission, are focused rather than vague, and we are empowered to avoid being distracted.Duncan Heaster

The Gospel in the Workplace My work in helping asylum seekers to Christ and caring for themDzena Andersone

Come, be my Follower A brief review of the JW's organisation's beginning and how the Watchtower organisation keeps control of its members and the scriptures used. Then some of their doctrines to be aware of.– Peter Neate-Stidson

Formulating a Pastoral Programme Pastoral care often happens in a quite haphazard way. Individuals make presentations or give exhorts on whatever interests them, which often results in a lack of co-ordinated program. The workshop will discuss what we can do about this Anna Ryder

Breaking-of-Bread on Sunday morning, exhortation – Robert Wilkinson

Meals will be provided for Friday supper, Saturday lunch and supper and Sunday lunch. In order to keep cost down we shall be self-catering, so it is essential that we know who is coming and when. We can’t accept walk-in attendance. Please make bookings with Steve Gretton:-

Email:  steve.gretton@googlemail.com                Tel: 01225 316528

A collection will be taken to cover the cost of room hire, insurance and catering.

The aim of the conference is to study together and discuss how we can best shine the light of the Gospel in the present world. We will all have different ideas so it is understood that everyone will respect each other's point of view so that there will be a true spirit of love in the Lord.

Accommodation is available in local hotels, details on the Carelinks web site:                                                                                    www.carelinks.net/doc/events

ACCOMMODATION

For accommodation we have found a local hotel, The White Hart at Ford, near Chippenham.which has 11 double rooms, so if people share they can accommodate 22 (or 23 if 3 share the family room).  The cost is £55 per room per night, ensuite rooms inc full English Breakfast.    It is a beautiful, quiet place and as good value as we can expect round here.  Also only 2 miles from Colerne. this is our first recommendation. [Also has a very good restaurant if anyone needed it.]  http://www.marstonsinns.co.uk/Home/hotels/hotel-chippenham/white-hart

Our second choice is The Crown at Giddea Hall, about a further mile down the road.  They could accommodate 16 in double or twin rooms - all ensuite.  A bit more expensive at £60 with Continental Breakfast and £5.50 extra for Full English. Has a good restaurant if needed.

People are welcome to do their own thing, it's simply that Br Steve Gretton has negotiated these rates for our group.  However, it's not dependent on numbers.  If people go direct to the White Hart or the Crown, they'll probably get the same rate, but we thought it would be nice to get a group together, if they'd like, for extended fellowship.
