Spain, Deaf Family, Winter Heating October 2008
We continue receiving many requests for literature from immigrants throughout Western Europe. We now have Bible Basics literature in over 55 languages and our team, especially Brother Marcus, do a fine job of mailing them out all over the world. As a result of this we came into contact with RAHID, a former Moslem who has now powerfully converted to Christ, and it was a pleasure to meet up with him and baptize him in a small town in Spain.

Rahid has a number of other immigrant contacts and we're sending him literature to distribute to them. Here's the Igbo [West African language] version of Bible Basics next to the English one, on Rahid's lounge table:

All the labour, work and expense that goes into translating, typing, printing and distributing these translations is now bearing fruit- worldwide, and in unexpected places.
DEAF FAMILY
Meanwhile, we've moved our deaf family in Latvia into the accomodation we're rebuilding for those in their case. Brother Dave Bushell was there working on the electrics and was able to welcome them shortly before his returning to the UK:

The children are also deaf and are in a deaf boarding school, but are living in the home at weekends. It takes deaf people- especially those accustomed to living in an isolated home in the middle of a forest- some time to get used to new things and situations. We're constantly texting backwards and forwards, explaining things like the heating system etc. Thank God for such communication systems.

We'd like to get them online, although it'll mean having to teach computer literacy to the parents, it'd open a whole new world to them. There are many deaf websites in Russian and a few in Latvian now.
We were very touched to receive a huge packet of clothing from a dear sister in Canada. It came just at the right time. We received in the mail a very sad letter from brother Petka, written on a scrap of paper torn from a student's exercise book:

Here's the translation: "It's very hard with firewood for the Winter. One load costs all my month's pension. Everything has got so expensive, especially medicines. I only with strong faith cast myself upon the Lord. I really need the medicines, otherwise my end [death] will come sooner. God has already as it were forewarned me, clearly enough, of my condition".
There are so many in this situation. So here we are with the parcel just arrived from Canada and some firewood, off again to distribute:

Please continue praying for all the dear ones here in Eastern Europe, and we appreciate, as do they, your financial support which enables all this work.
Some upcoming dates- God willing- for your diaries:
Carelinks UK conference in January 2009- see www.carelinks.net/docs/events
Baltic Bible Weekend, November 7-9 2008, to be held in Latvia. Brother Tim Dickinson of Chesterfield ecclesia, UK will be the speaker
Also, we are planning to soon publish the book "The Real Christ". This is not only a deconstruction of the 'Trinity' but also a positive portrait of who the Lord Jesus really was and is in terms of His personality. We're eager to have your critical comments before we go to print, as we did with the book "The Real Devil". You can view the draft text at www.realchrist.info
With love from your brothers and sisters of Carelinks
