Egypt, Myanmar, Raute People, Cataracts March 2009
We're pleased to report that our sister Tanya is right now overnighting in hospital after the cataract operation we appealed for in an earlier Carelink.
She had the operation today and Duncan was able to visit her right after it:

Tany's truly appreciative of this. She has already told others in her ward about us and the hope which binds us together. That was a real 'carpe diem' as she's only together with them 30 hours or so.
We also previously reported on the persecution faced by our new brethren in the oppressive Myanmar regime.
One of our new brothers writes:
"Thank you very much for your email, How are you brother? we all are doing well. All the baptized are well. Elisha is leaving to Chin state to meet his family. By the way, when you are in my home as soon as you leaving in front of the gate the governments are coming they gave warning, no more praying and asked some money I have to pay, other wise I will be in the jail, and also we have difficult time we must leave now from renting home. I need to find the place. But I thank God for protecting me and one day the ministry will be more. Thanks once again for ur email, and pray 4 my family to go forward. May God Bless you"
We did actually see the Police coming to him just as we were leaving. Wesaw them coming to the gate of his place as we watched out of the back window of the taxi as we drove off. The taxi had waited for us outside his place. We did wonder about mentioning it in the Carelink but it sounded melodramatic. Seems we got out just in time... another 1 minute and we'd have been there too. Myanmar really is a horrible place. So let's pray for them there.
We omitted in the last carelink to give the link to where you can view the "What is the Gospel?" presentation in English translated to Burmese. For any who may be interested in this resource, the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIbYyBrRRLY
We also mentioned in a previous Carelink about our three new brothers who have access to the Raute people. They say that they'd appreciate any blankets or cloth materials which the Raute can use to make clothing or even tents from. We'll say at the outset that this is an extremely remote area and we can't guarantee the safe arrival of the materials by Post. But if any are willing to try sending such materials out there, please let us know. This is as we said a unique opportunity to reach one of earth's last indigenous, hunter-gatherer peoples with the Truth, and providing material aid for them is an opportunity for our brethren to witness to them.
EGYPT
We're pleased to announce that we've performed the first baptisms in another land where so far as we know, there have been no baptisms ever performed in our community. We were delighted to baptize OGUN and his wife BOSEDE in a town about 50 km. from Cairo. They brought their newborn baby to the great event:
She had the operation today and Duncan was able to visit her right after it:

Our new brother and sister have a whole group of people who are studying Bible Basics with them, and we're really hopeful that the Truth will have great potential for growth in their hands. Please pray for the work here, and if any are interested in a trip to Egypt- please do get in touch with us.
The potential for the Truth to spread these days is simply amazing- please do join us in prayer for all the work, we do feel that all this work has God's blessing and He is eager to hear our supplications for it.
